EDM Upgrades

 

EDM ZAP offers various services to upgrade your sinker EDM machine and power supply to perform better like a new machine - without the new machine price. Upgrades are available to most Elox sinkers in addition to Xermac, ERM, Cincinnati, Ingersoll, Hansvedt, and others.

 

Above: a row of ZAP DC drive conversions.	DC Drive Conversion ZAPDRIVE Brushless precision screwdrive system. This upgrade may be installed on site as a single unit or in our shop as part of the complete dynamic upgrade. It was designed to replace the hydraulic system on an Elox machine but can be adapted to most EDM's.   The DC drive system conversion includes: Brushless DC high torque servo motor with positive brake. Computer controlled driver amplifier. 1.25" diameter precision ground ballscrew. Machined steel motor mount, ballscrew housing, coupling and positive stops. Electrical interface relays, limit switches, auxiliary power supply and wiring. This DC drive upgrade improves your machine in many ways: Quiet operation, no hydraulic noise or vibration. Faster ram speed and servo response. Positive brake holds ram steady for easier setups and no hydraulic cylinder drift to deal with. This feature is extremely important if EDM tapping or orbiting is done with your machine. Servo feed rate remains constant, and is not affected by temperature and vibration like hydraulic systems. No more hydraulic oil leaking into your work area and contaminating the EDM coolant oil. This is a common problem and could negatively affect the performance of your EDM oil and cause problems such as DC arcing or slower than normal cutting.
	Head Upgrade EDM ZAP PARTS offers a complete head Upgrade and exchange program to upgrade existing machine tools having minimum wear on the table way system. Since the servo response of the machine ram is fundamental to performance, head upgrade can make an enormous difference.  Your original-equipment, adjustable tapered gib and dovetail way-guide naturally wears and loosens with usage. A ZAP head upgrade replaces the older system for new machine performance at a fraction of the cost.   Experienced factory trained EDM ZAP technicians install precision heavy duty Schneeberger anti-friction crossed roller bearing ways.  Bearings are pre-loaded to zero clearance for accurate tracking, faster response and maintenance-free operation.   (You'll really appreciate the faster response on fine-finish, higher-frequency burns!) Our bearing replacement is performance engineered to meet or exceed precision EDM requirements, including factory alignment specifications. EDM ZAP Parts' Schneeberger crossed roller bearing way system benefits: An anti-friction design with 25% faster response to servo control, yielding much better results on difficult high frequency, fine finish cuts. Accuracy:  Bearings are preloaded with zero clearance for ensured accuracy. Load capacity is maintained with improved stiffness due to longer way length and pre-loaded bearing rollers. 	Filtration System Upgrade Upgrade your system with a Turbo Filtration System. Replace your entire system or just the canister. System Includes: Bootless Turbine coolant pump with hoses, pressure relief valve, and Y-strainer. This pump is very reliable and can achieve higher pressures than the standard stator pump, without the hassle and inconvenience of replacing those rubber boots. Freeflow double stack filter canister with easy open T-handle at the top for convenience. Steel mounting bracket for filter and pump attaches to the right rear side of your machine for easy access.
